Smart and sensory baby strollers point to the future of the baby care market

Smart baby strollers are beginning to attract attention in international markets and illustrate how technology is transforming the baby care industry. Today, models that once served only a basic transportation function are now incorporating sensors, connectivity and features designed to make everyday life easier for families. This evolution follows the growth of the children’s products sector and creates new opportunities for professionals working in retail, importing or online sales focused on the baby and kids market.

According to a study by For Insights Consultancy, the global baby products market is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of 5.5%. The sector is projected to expand from US$256.78 billion in 2024 to US$348.76 billion by 2030, driven by strong demand for solutions related to baby care and child development.

As consumers become more informed and attentive to product details, innovation, functionality and safety are playing an increasingly important role in purchasing decisions within the baby care market. In response to this behavior, manufacturers have been increasing investments in technologies that make baby strollers more practical, safe and versatile for everyday family use.

Smart baby strollers bring new technologies to everyday life

Among the features gaining the most attention today are solutions that improve mobility, increase stroller stability and give parents greater control during everyday use. Some of the technologies already appearing in models available in international markets include:

  1. Electric assist for pushing the stroller

Some models feature an electric assist system that helps propel the stroller while walking. This technology reduces physical effort when going uphill, navigating sloped sidewalks or moving across uneven terrain, making outings more comfortable for parents or caregivers. In several international markets, this feature is beginning to appear as a differentiator in more advanced stroller lines.

  1. Automatic braking system

Automatic braking systems are designed to prevent unexpected movement. Sensors detect when the stroller is positioned on an incline or when the caregiver’s hands move away from the handlebar, automatically activating the brakes and helping reduce the risk of accidents.

  1. Stability and tilt sensors

Some strollers incorporate sensors capable of monitoring the structure’s stability during use. If the system detects excessive tilt or a potential imbalance, alerts may be triggered to warn parents or caregivers.

  1. Smartphone app connectivity

Depending on the model, users can monitor temperature, track routes or check the status of certain technical features through a smartphone application. This type of functionality brings baby products closer to the growing ecosystem of connected homes.

  1. Mobile safety alerts

Some systems send notifications to a smartphone if the stroller moves too far away from the caregiver or leaves a predefined area. This works as an additional layer of safety in busy environments such as parks, shopping malls or travel settings.

  1. Automatic rocking mode to soothe the baby

In certain models, the stroller can activate a gentle rocking motion while stationary, reproducing the natural movement of a walk to help calm the baby or support moments of rest during the day.

  1. Smart suspension for different surfaces

Adaptive suspension systems increase comfort by absorbing impacts on uneven surfaces such as cobblestones or irregular sidewalks.

  1. Modular and adaptable structures

Some designs allow the stroller to transform into a bassinet, connect to car seats or adjust seating positions as the child grows, extending the product’s lifespan and versatility.

These innovations also create valuable content opportunities for retailers and e-commerce platforms. Demonstration videos, model comparisons and practical product tests help clearly communicate the added value of these solutions.

Safety plays an increasingly important role in purchasing decisions

Professionals working in the baby products sector know that one question often comes up early when parents begin researching products: safety.

This concern is also related to the investment many families make when preparing for a new baby. According to data from Sebrae, a baby’s initial set of essential products can cost between R$6,000 and R$10,000 in Brazil, including items such as strollers, cribs and accessories. With such a significant investment involved, parents tend to research extensively and prioritize products that convey reliability and quality.

When it comes to baby strollers, this attention is reflected in technical details such as wheel stability, frame durability, safety locks, harness systems and product certifications.

Modern design may capture attention in store displays, but consumer confidence in the product is often what ultimately drives the final purchase decision.

For this reason, many brands are investing in real-life demonstrations through digital content. Videos showing how strollers perform in everyday situations help build credibility and generate interest both on social media and in e-commerce environments, where consumers often research extensively before making a purchase.

Versatility increases perceived value for families

Another trend frequently observed in research on baby product consumption is the search for items that can adapt to different stages of a child’s routine.

Versatile equipment is gaining space because it simplifies daily life for families. Strollers that convert into bassinets, structures compatible with car seats and models with adjustable positions or heights are increasingly common in recent product collections.

This type of solution tends to increase perceived value. When parents realize that a single product can serve multiple needs, the investment often makes more sense in the long term.

For retailers in the children’s market, this creates strong sales opportunities. Demonstrating how a product can be used in different situations helps customers visualize its value in everyday life.

In digital channels, comparison guides and demonstration content play an important role in this process. In physical stores, allowing customers to test different configurations of the stroller often creates a moment of discovery that can lead directly to a purchase decision.

Trends attracting attention in the children’s retail market

Keeping up with new developments can make a real difference when it comes to updating product assortments and identifying opportunities that add value to retail businesses. From May 26 to 28, the FIT Pueri Expo will bring together brands, manufacturers and suppliers at the Expo Center Norte in São Paulo to showcase launches, technologies and trends in the baby care and juvenile products market.

The event offers an opportunity to discover innovative products, connect directly with companies developing new solutions and evaluate which trends could make sense for your own business.

In addition to the exhibition area, the event will also feature industry experts and speakers sharing practical insights on children’s retail, strategies to increase sales, opportunities in e-commerce and ways to navigate the ongoing transformation of the market.

For professionals looking for trends, new brands and partnership opportunities in the children’s sector, walking through the stands, meeting suppliers and experiencing products firsthand can generate valuable ideas for the future of their business.
